Bruce Waters

Climbing in, swinging from, and lazing under, pohutukawa trees, is part of the Waters family history.

Some of Bruce's strongest memories are of family gatherings under a magnificent old specimen on the shores of the Hokianga Harbour and racing his son, James, to hospital to patch up a broken arm after he fell out of one of the trees.

Bruce and Project Crimson came together in the 10 years he worked for Carter Holt Harvey. In 1999 he joined Mighty River Power in a legal counsel/public relations/corporate affairs role, and now works with Indigenous Corporate Solutions Ltd to provide resource and advice, particularly to corporate business, in all forms of dealing with Maori.

Bruce is a tree-hugger from way back and is passionate about the need to protect the environment.

Travel opportunities have been plentiful over the years. Highlights include frequent trips to Chile for Carter Holt Harvey, nine months travelling around South America, and a three-month stint helping his GP wife Rowan when she worked at a Sir Edmund Hillary-inspired hospital in the Himalayas.

Despite all his offshore adventures, to Bruce, the pohutukawa-fringed coast of home is hard to beat.
