Caroline Wallace

Conservation Manager

I grew up in Rosebud, a sea side town on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria Australia, on an acre of bush.  As a child I thought I could get lost on our section, it was so vast.  We shared the section with a family of kookaburras, a blue tongue lizard that surprised us on the front door mat one morning, a resident possum that visited our roof on many early mornings and plenty of huntsman spiders.

I have always believed that the environment is intrinsically important.  It doesn't matter how much money you have or how successful you are, if there is no environment left to sustain your lifestyle.  I moved to Melbourne to study, completing an Applied Science degree in Environmental Management.  I then went travelling and met my now husband, Greg, ending up in Wellington.  I have updated my Australian degree with a Post Graduate Certificate in Science from Massey University.

I have worked at Transpower and the Department of Conservation.  I joined the Project Crimson team in 2008 where I work as the Conversation Manager on a part time basis.

My role at Project Crimson is a dream job for me.  I meet people, talk to people and see if Project Crimson can assist with their project.  I am responsible for managing the nurseries that grow our trees for us.  I also coordinate our annual funding round which closes 1 March each year.
